Our Process

How a roofing job runs in Elizabeth, step by step: the call, the written quote, the work and the final walkthrough — and the less expensive option named when there is one.

Roof Leak Repair in Elizabeth
02Sequence

Four steps, start to finish

The drip brought back with a hose while you watch, then a written quote for that spot before any work.

01

Call and describe the drip

Where the stain is, which floor, and whether it shows in every rain or only in wind. On a two- or three-family house, which unit sees it first.

02

Make it leak again

One person wets the roof a section at a time from the lowest edge up; another stays under the stain or in the attic.

03

Written quote for the spot you saw

The section that brought the drip back is photographed and priced in writing before any work.

04

Repair, then the hose again

Once the repair is done the same section is wetted again with someone watching inside. A dry ceiling under that test is the end of the job.

03What it costs

The numbers, together

Estimated ranges for Union County homes. Your own written quote comes after we have seen it.

04Before we arrive

What to do while you wait for us

A leak usually gives you a night if you do a few things right. Some of them also make the water test quicker.

01

Stop the damage

Move what you can from under it, put down a bucket, and switch off any circuit with a fixture or outlet near the water.

02

Let a bulging ceiling drain

A small hole at the lowest point, over a bucket, lets trapped water out under control instead of bringing the ceiling down.

03

Stay off the roof

A wet roof is how people get hurt, and on a three-story house the fall is a long one. The test can wait for a ladder and a crew.

04

Mark the stain

Draw a pencil line around its edge with the date. If it grows in the next rain you will know, and so will we.

05Availability

A water test needs a dry roof, so timing matters

Worth knowing before a storm, and worth planning around after one.

A hose test only works when the roof is dry enough that the only water on it is ours. During a storm, or in the day after, the first job is a tarp or a temporary seal to stop the damage; the test and the permanent repair follow on the first dry day.

After heavy rain like Ida's in September 2021, every roofer in the county is busy at once, and a home with water coming in goes ahead of one with a dry stain. Anything that can wait is best booked in a dry week, and a roof that is frozen waits for a thaw, because water on ice proves nothing about the roof under it.

  • Active water treated as same day where weather and daylight allow
  • Tarp first in a storm, water test on the first dry day
  • No test on a frozen roof, and no repair on a wet one
  • Told honestly if tonight is really tomorrow morning
